A router lift crank is an interface between your hand and a particular adjustment mechanism. Its shaft may look like an ordinary hex tool, but drive size, engagement depth, shaft length and clearance above the table all matter. Order a replacement by the lift’s exact model and part identification whenever possible.

Read the plate markings and manual to distinguish the height-adjustment socket from a carriage lock or other fastener. Kreg’s PRS5000, for example, uses the crank at separate adjustment and locking locations. Turning the wrong feature can leave the lift locked or loosen something you did not intend to change.
Photograph the socket and the lift’s identification label for a parts inquiry. Include the old handle if it remains available. A photograph cannot establish a precise drive size by itself, but it helps the manufacturer distinguish a missing crank from a damaged socket or an unrelated accessory.
Length affects usability
A correct drive shape may still leave a handle colliding with a fence, guard or surrounding fixture. Confirm the specified crank rather than selecting a short tool that only barely reaches. Check whether the fence must move for full rotation and whether that movement will disturb a setup you need to repeat.
With the router disconnected, the specified handle should engage as instructed without hammering or excessive side pressure. If it will not seat, inspect for visible debris or damage and consult the manual. Do not use extra leverage to compensate for a binding mechanism. A drill is not a faster crank
JessEm explicitly prohibits cordless-drill carriage adjustment in the Mast-R-Lift II manual because it can cause premature thread wear. The older Rout-R-Lift II instructions also prohibit it. Do not infer powered-drive approval from the fact that a bit fits the socket.
A purpose-built motorized lift is a different product with its own controls and instructions. If repeated long adjustments are the concern, compare manual and motorized designs instead of converting a hand-operated mechanism with a drill.
Keep router handles separate from lift handles
A handle used to adjust a table-mounted router’s built-in mechanism, such as a compatible Triton arrangement, is not automatically a replacement for a third-party lift crank. Search the router’s model when servicing the router’s own mechanism and the lift’s model when servicing a separate lift.
Store the correct handle where it can be found, but remove it from the adjustment socket before operation as instructed. A labeled holder prevents similar tools from becoming interchangeable by accident. If the original part is unavailable, ask the maker for its approved replacement rather than modifying the drive.
