Compact Router Lifts

Smaller-motor setups need their own fit checks.

A compact router is not automatically compatible with a full-size lift. These listings target smaller motor bodies. Verify the exact clamping arrangement, switch access and manufacturer-approved inverted operation before building around one.

Questions specific to a small-motor installation

Compact lifts call for careful identification of the router body. A 65 mm description may look close to a 64–66 mm range, but the clamping surfaces and supported models still need checking. Do not measure the removable base or infer the motor diameter from the bit collet.

Compare the package contents as well as the lift. Some listings include a plate, fence or miter guide, while others leave more of the table construction to you. Establish the actual footprint and support requirements before deciding whether a compact assembly will fit a small bench. Leave room for the power cord, switch access and dust connections around the motor.

Travel figures should be interpreted in the installed configuration. A stated carriage travel does not guarantee that the collet rises above the plate for bit changes. Ask for instructions covering the exact motor and assembly if that feature matters. Finally, review the router's permitted mounting and operating arrangements. A physically small setup still needs the support, clearances and operating practices specified for the equipment.
